This book is a revision and update of my earlier book, A MATTER OF SPIRITUAL CUSTODY, published by Rainbow Books, Moore Haven Florida in 1989. The story is an entirely true account of the landmark interfaith custody battle for my older son, Robert Roffman. I have, however, altered the names of a few ex-in laws in an effort to provide them with a measure of privacy. My son is shown on the cover in a photo taken near the summit of Mount Sinai, Egypt in 1987.

Robert’s adult photo is left off the family pictures above even though he has a B.S. in geophysics from M.I.T. If you read this book you’ll understand how great the father-son love was when Robert was young . To gain custody I had to force the Catholic Church to alter its doctrine on baptism. This made news around the world. And yet, it was a revelation about UFOs on December 24, 1997 that destroyed our relationship. Robert and I were visiting my Uncle Eugene, the same uncle who would ten years later give me evidence to support his claim that he had a role in back-engineering UFOs.
We had another family member who had a major connection with UFOs, but he was not a Roffman. His name was Stan Gross and he was a test launch director at the Kennedy Space Center. He is discussed in my article about Uncle Eugene.
On the night of December 24, 1997 Stan told me, Robert and a son of Uncle Eugene that he had personally viewed the famous crashed Roswell UFO back in 1964. Stan claimed that the relationship between our Government and aliens was ongoing but when asked if the ETs were friendly his response was that, “You don’t know what your neighbor is thinking,” So he didn’t trust them. At the time Robert was in Air Force ROTC. Upon graduation he had expected to be based at Vandenberg Air Force Base (I believe with Space Command, Space Force did not yet exist) but within two weeks of Stan’s revelation, he dropped his interest in space, and his interest in me. While his Type 1 scholarship to M.I.T. was based on his geophysics degree, when he did go on active duty (after a 5-year deferment to go to rabbinical school), it was as a chaplain in the Air Force Reserve. He is (in 2022) a major, but an actuary in his civilian career. He has 8 kids and over 23 years of reserve military service. I am close to his oldest son and I’ve given him a flight lesson. The young man is a natural pilot, but for some reason within two weeks of the encounter with Stan, Robert’s relationship with me was basically over. He wanted nothing to do with science or my then just beginning study of the Torah Code.
